Life of a College Student

Andrew and I went to Wheaton's football game tonight and I made some very interesting observations while trying to keep focused on the football game.

1. Don't sit in the student section or near the students. We sat in front of two guys talking about video games and how video games make one of the students better at football. Hmm...

2. I felt like being in the PVG lobby at the "meet market" once again and guys and girls introducing themselves to each other. Boy-"Hey, do you remember my name?" Girl-"Umm you are the watch guy." Girl- "Yeah, what is your name again." Guy-"Ben. What's yours? Girl-"Katherine." Boy- "Now I am sure not going to forget that." Did I mention I think the Katherine girl was with her mom (I think) as this all took place.

3. I am way too old because all the girls had short, I mean short shorts on.

4. I think a girl student forgot the memo she was at a football game, not a night club. Way too short of a mini dress and way too tight of a dress. Yikes!

5. I forgot what college life is all about....reminds me of the good memories of the four  5 years I had for undergrad.

6. Made me realize the experiences I gained as a college athlete are truly indescribable and worth every tear shed!

7. Did we really look that hideous during freshmen initiation?!?

8.  Speaking of freshmen initiation...they had the guys swim team with some dressed in cheerleading outfits or some short outfits...some worse than their speedos (if they wear those still).

9. Going back to number 1, I leaned over to Andrew and told him to remind me to bring the I-Pod when we come to the next football game. I don't want to hear nerdy conversations again. Andrew told me that he wouldn't want me to bring headphones so he couldn't talk to me. Win-lose situation right there.

10. I am thankful that we didn't have cheerleaders. But the squad is holding tryouts on Tuesday night from 7-9pm. I might go try out!!! =)

11. Must get man bag for Andrew for Christmas!!!!! i.e. picture below

Top 10 list complete. Tomorrow we are watching the womens and mens soccer teams play. I am excited because my sister used to play for the women's team back in the day. Excited as well because I might get to see some of her teammates as Wheaton celebrates 25 years for womens soccer being in existence. Maybe I will be able to add to this list. To Be Continued...

Patience

Time for some news!!!

Andrew was able to get two jobs at the park district which he applied for here in Illinois. Andrew was diligent in applying for jobs when we were in Oregon and he applied for a supervisor position at the park district. The guy that was interviewing him decided to wait a month to have Andrew interview since we were not in the state yet. AMAZING!!! Andrew interviewed 6 days after we arrived in Wheaton and then we have waited. Andrew applied for a front desk person at the same park district to get more hours and had an interview today!

Well, Andrew got BOTH positions!!!

This is all in the Lord's timing for sure. Andrew was able to focus on school in Oregon and now he will be able to provide for both of us and it will work around his school schedule here.

Who do we give the credit to? God. Our Creator. Our FAITHFUL Heavenly Father. He knew what we needed and ONCE AGAIN provided!!! Thank you to all who have been praying for us, encouraging us, and loving us.

Our New Home

God really blessed us with this condo. We originally had a reservation with an apartment complex, but after reading reviews, praying for God to open up a place with Christian landlords, we were able to find and move into this place. At first, I thought this place was going to be small, but in the end it is the right size with a garage. We are very thankful to have found this place and it even comes with a garage for those cold months coming up. We are 99% move in. I have to organize my closet it a bit more. Those boxes are actually all my children's books. My parents, my brother Doug, and Andrew's dad were able to get the pod unloaded within 5 hours and I was off to organizing our place. I am happy how things turned out and that Andrew and I are able to make our condo a home.

The stairs to go upstairs to our new place. The living room.

Spare bedroom if anyone wants to come visit.

Our bedroom. We need to figure out something to put on some of these blank walls.

From Oregon to Wheaton, Illinois

We have successfully made it from Gresham to Wheaton. We are completely unpacked and settled. Here are some pictures from the different states we entered and some of the delicious food we ate on the way.
