Photos From the Recent Events

April is a busy month for my family as well as Andrew's family. Between the both of us there are five birthdays to celebrate and they are all in a two week time period. This means that we celebrate a lot of birthdays and we get together quite often. Here are some pictures from the recent pictures.

Madison playing in the box from the chest freezer that us children + spouses got my mother for her birthday. She has always wanted one of these to freeze berries and for extra space. We finally got it for her!

Augustine is looking at an airplane here. He loves planes, MAX trains, flashing lights, anything that moves. He loves to go on a walk and watch the MAX go by. I love his big brown eyes. They are great to photograph.

Jazmyne and my mom. My Mom made this quilt for Jazzy's bed at her dad's house. It is very gorgeous. She has made each of us kids one except Doug and her grandchildren Madison, Jasmine, and Alistair. She is planning on making everyone a quilt. I guess we can't have any grandchildren for her until she gets the other quilts made first. Good plan Mom!!!

This is Andrew and I before we left for his graduation banquet. Sorry about the pasty white arms and legs on me (Kathleen).

Jazzy at Andrew's graduation waiting patiently.

My Mom and all her grandchildren helping her blow out the candles.

Andrew's graduation

Andrew received his first master's degree on 4/24/2010. He received a Master's of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies.

Andrew getting "hooded" by Dr. Gerry Breshears. Also, our home pastor here in Gresham.

Andrew receiving his diploma from Dr. Marc Cortez...one of his favorite professors on campus.

Andrew getting his picture taken with Dr. Randy Roberts, the president of Western Seminary.

Andrew by himself at graduation.

Andrew with half of my family.

Andrew is now into his second semester of his second master's which will be a Master's of Theology. Lots of schooling left for him, but I am very proud of him for finishing his first one.

Graduation Banquet

Tonight was Andrew's graduation banquet at the Sheraton Hotel by the Portland Airport. Things started off good....Andrew couldn't find his shoes, but they were under our bed. Andrew couldn't find a tie, so he borrowed my dad's. We were off and ready to go. We made it in plenty of time and lots of standing around waiting for the dinner to start.

Doors open...this is where the fun (drama) begins.

We were sent two tickets for free from Western Seminary for the banquet! AWESOME!!! Well, we were given table 40. We go to table 40 and there are ten seats with ten people sitting in these seats.

We go back to a professor that has a table assignment list and let him know that there are no seats at our table for us.

We were told that we were supposed to talk to someone who did the specific seating chart. She finds us a new table....no seats for us again.

Then we go back to the back of the ballroom for the third time and they find us an empty table. The famous table 42.

Lots of fun and laughter at this table and only another couple sitting there at the time. Another couple and her parents and sister show up. Plenty of laughter at this table so we were blessed that we sat at this table. We felt we were being analyzed because both women were counseling students at WS.

Next, it is time for the main entree to come. Everyone around us....all the other 49 tables receive food....us....NO. They ran out of food because people showed up without reserving spots. Go figure because our table was full. They stole our food!!! Least we got hot food that they had to cook up just for us.

Well, the spouses got recognition by the seminary by a certificate. Well, since we were at the wrong table, I did not receive mine. Thankfully a nice professor who came to check in on us (multiple times) went to our original table and brought mine over. We were supposed to stand up as couples and show affection...NO THANKS!!!! We should have taught our table the high five!! haha

Things went well after the late entree. The best part of course was the dessert which was a flourless chocolate cake or strawberry cheesecake. Went with the chocolate after a stressful night. The night ended with seeing some I knew and then meeting some of Andrew's professors.

Andrew did get a recognition from a older woman. She came up to him after the banquet ended and told him, "God has blessed you with a nice singing voice." The thing about this she was nowhere near us as when singing or eating our meal.

We finished the night great after starting the night with drama.

We Are Graduates

Last night, Andrew and I graduated from Financial Peace University. We took a 13 week course at our church and we successfully completed the in class work, now it is time to do the outside work (the paying off debt). We are thankful that my parents bought this class for us and we are excited to see where the Lord takes us and how soon we can pay off debt. I just wanted to mention, I should have received another award for perfect attendance, but I didn't. =) Oh well! Off to get our snowball rolling...

Marathon

Today, Andrew and I started training for a marathon! A long way to go, but I know this will improve our health and getting us back into shape. Maybe drop a few pounds...okay maybe more than a few. I am excited for this time to spend with Andrew and encouraging each other in the process. We are thankful Portland/Gresham is a friendly city to run in. A gorgeous day to start running!

I Am Never Too Old...

I am never too hold for an Easter egg hunt. Today, at 26 years old, I decide to join an Easter egg hunt with my 8 year old niece, almost 23 year old brother, and my mother around my parents' backyard, side yard, and front part of the house! I enjoyed looking for the colorful hard boiled eggs that my niece, my 2 year old nephew, my brother in law, and myself colored yesterday. Yes, I cannot get enough of coloring hard boiled eggs either. I know Andrew and I will be carrying this tradition on with our children, but until that day comes, we will carry it on with ourselves for now! I am never too old!
